ADDITIONAL PAYMENT METHODS

SECTION SUMMARY

Identify Additional Payment Methods:

  • Legal Remedies (i.e. (),
  • ))
  •  (Criminal Breach of Trust, etc.),
  • Contractor Best Practices (Practices developed by sub-contractors, or others, which may be adopted by sub-contractors to facilitate prompt payment.)
  • Non-Payment Registry (A database of non-payment practices of payers in the construction industry.)

The following provides subcontractors with:

  1. A “Roadmap” of “Additional Methods of Payment”.
  2. A “database” of best practices to attain payment derived from examples/articles/guides given by contractors, or others.
  3. The means to identify payers who have, or have not, exhibited the “Best Practices” when paying Sub-contractors.

The ‘Additional Payment Methods” in the Task Force “Wheel” Model is grouped into three categories:

  1. Legal Remedies(i.e. Trust Claims (CLA), Personal Property Security, Bonding, Other Liens under other Statutes (Repairs & Storage Lien Act), Criminal Code (Criminal Breach of Trust, etc.)
  2. Contractor Best Practices(Practices developed by sub-contractors, or others, which may be adopted by sub-contractors to facilitate prompt payment.), and
  3. Non-Payment Registry(A database of non-payment practices of payers in the construction industry.)
