Dear ߲ݴý Members and Industry Colleagues,

It is with a mixture of immense pride and genuine sadness that I share the news of an important change within the ߲ݴý family.

After more than 10 years of exceptional service to our association and to the broader electrical contracting industry, Jodi Travers will be leaving ߲ݴý to take on the role of Executive Director with the Construction Labour Relations Association of Ontario (CLRAO).  While we are losing a remarkable colleague, we are celebrating an extraordinary professional stepping into a role she is absolutely ready for and one she has thoroughly earned.

A Colleague of Uncommon Dedication

From her very first day at ߲ݴý, Jodi brought a rare combination of intelligence, warmth, and an unwavering commitment to doing things right. As ߲ݴý’s Labour Relations Manager, Jodi served as a trusted advisor to our members, a skilled and principled advocate at the bargaining table, and an integral part of the leadership team that has helped shape the direction of this association.

She mastered a complex file; one that sits at the heart of what ߲ݴý does every day and she did so with passion, care, and humility. Our members were well-served. Our union relationships were handled with integrity. And behind the scenes, countless problems were solved before they ever became problems at all.

A Personal Word — From Me

Jodi, I want to say this clearly and on behalf of everyone at ߲ݴý: working alongside you has been one of the genuine privileges of my time as Executive Director.

You came to this role and made it your own. You earned the respect of our members, our partners, and your colleagues not by seeking it, but simply by showing up consistently, competently, and with real heart. That is not a small thing. In our industry, at the table where the work is hard and the stakes are real, it matters enormously. You always delivered.

I will not pretend we are not going to miss you, because we are. But I would be doing you a disservice if I let that sentiment overshadow what this moment really is: the beginning of a new and exciting chapter for a leader whose best work is still ahead of her. CLRAO is very lucky, and they may not even know it yet.

We wish you every success. We wish you joy. And we hope you know that this community, your community, will be cheering for you.

From the Electrical Contractors Association of Ontario

߲ݴý extends its deepest gratitude to Jodi for her 10-plus years of service, her commitment to our members, and her contributions to the strength and stability of our association. She leaves a lasting mark on this organization and on our industry, which she has served with distinction.

We are proud to have had her as part of the ߲ݴý team, and we wish her the very best as she embarks on this next chapter of her career.

Please join us in congratulating Jodi and wishing her well in everything that lies ahead.

Warmly,

Graeme Aitken
Executive Director
߲ݴý

On behalf of the ߲ݴý Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and Staff Team

We are deeply saddened to hear about the tragic loss of 20-year-old welder Amber Czech, whose life was taken in an act of workplace violence in Minnesota. This heartbreaking incident is a solemn reminder that violence in the workplace can affect anyone, in any role, and in any sector.

In Ontario, every employer and worker has responsibilities to help prevent workplace violence and harassment. It is critical that we continue to foster safe, respectful, and vigilant work environments—where all individuals are protected and supported.

We encourage all members to take this moment to review their obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, including policies, programs, risk assessments, and training requirements.

Please see the documents on our website: /member/safety-links to ensure your workplace remains compliant and that your teams are protected. If you have any questions or require assistance, we are here to support you.

We regret to inform you that the 2025 ߲ݴý Low Voltage and Systems Integration Symposium has been cancelled due to lower-than-expected attendance, largely attributed to the event’s location. While this was a difficult decision, we believe it is the most responsible course of action to ensure a high-quality experience for our members, exhibitors, sponsors, participants and speakers.

We understand this may cause inconvenience, and we appreciate your understanding and continued support. If you purchased a ticket, please note that refunds will be issued automatically through Eventbrite in the coming days.

To our Exhibitors and Sponsors– we are incredibly grateful for your support and commitment, and we want to ensure you continue to benefit from meaningful exposure and networking opportunities within our industry. To that end, we would like to offer you an exhibitor booth at the same rate for our upcoming Joint Leadership Conference on October 23, 2025—a joint event hosted by ߲ݴý, MCAO, and CLRAO at the Toronto Congress Centre. This opportunity also includes complimentary event tickets, providing added value and access to a broader audience of industry professionals. Alternatively, if you prefer a refund, we will process that for you.

If you had booked accommodations for June 3rd and 4th, you are welcome to maintain your reservation and enjoy your stay, as the ߲ݴý AGM will proceed as scheduled on Thursday, June 5th at 8 a.m. Should you have any questions or need to make changes to your hotel reservation, please feel free to contact Vincent Duong at vduong@ecao.org.

Moving forward, the Low Voltage and Systems Integration Symposium will be held every two years in Toronto, starting in 2026. We believe this approach will improve accessibility and offer greater value everyone.

Thank you again for your understanding. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

To respond to inflationary pressures, the ESA plans to increase wiring and licensing fees by 2.2% that will come into effect, on April 1, 2025.

This increase reflects the inflationary pressures that the ESA, and many organizations, are facing, while continuing to deliver on the ESA’s important mandate for sector and public education and invest in operational efficiencies and the digital strategy.

At the same time, the ESA will be reducing the fees for Solar Photovoltaic systems, greater than 10kW, by 25%; the fees for Entertainment productions will increase&Բ;–&Բ;C032 for Theatre, Film, TV and Video will be rising to $327 and C041 for Commercials will be rising to $170;  and ESA will be introducing a new fee for Deviation requests – which is an optional service for those considering deviations from the Ontario Electrical Safety Code.

These optional deviation requests will face a fee of $388 for the first two hours of review time, and then a fee of $194 per additional hour of review, reflecting the time and effort from ESA personnel, and the increasing complexity of these requests.

The ESA Fee Guide is in process of being updated, and will be posted prior to April 1 implementation at:

For clarity, the fee increase in October was a reflection of 2023 inflationary costs, and the fee increase in April is related to 2024 inflationary costs. Going forward, ESA will implement fee changes in-line with the beginning of the fiscal year, on April 1st, to provide predictability for the sector.

The ESA recognizes the impact that fee changes put on our stakeholder community and will continue to drive public value through our financial and operational performances. ESA will continue to find ways, like the ESA ON Mobile App, to drive cost and burden reduction in the sector.
